Announcing Martus Desktop 5.1: Improved UI and Data Visualization Help Human Rights Actors

By Benetech, posted on

The Benetech Human Rights team is happy to announce the release of version 5.1 of Martus, our secure, free, open source information management and data collection tool for human rights defenders, activists, journalists, researchers, and civil society practitioners.

In this version of the Martus desktop app, we have implemented significant user interface and user experience improvements, along with highly requested features. With these updates, Martus users can now more easily organize, find, and report on the information they collect to advance their goals.

What’s new in Martus 5.1?

  • Data visualization tool: displays a map of a geo-tagged image attached to a single human rights record.
  • Updated reporting tools: line graph functionality enables users to show cumulative human rights records collected over time.
  • New thumbnail displays: makes it quicker and easier for users to browse supplemental information in records.
  • Usability enhancements: latest and updated icons, easier and simple search on the main page, and more.

Martus 5.1 was made possible thanks to funding by the Internet Freedom Programming of the Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.

We invite you to explore the Martus Project website and download Martus 5.1. Your feedback is always appreciated and you are welcome to contact our team at [email protected].
