The “Benetech Accessibility Program” helps schools and universities to navigate Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by providing technical assistance, training, and resources. Leveraging recognized accessibility standards for digital content and evidence-based best practices, we help schools to increase their capacity to create more inclusive learning environments for students with disabilities.

Bookshare+

Bookshare+ is an inclusive learning platform that leverages AI-powered tools to ensure that all learning materials are accessible to students with disabilities. With Bookshare+, educators can transform any document – paper worksheet, Google Doc, LMS content – into easy-to-use formats that students can access with assistive reading tools. From simple text to complex STEM materials like equations, graphs, and scientific diagrams, districts and schools can ensure that all students have equal access to learning materials.

Bookshare is an inclusive learning solution that makes reading easier for people who cannot access traditional print books. Our expansive talking ebook collection has over 1.3 million publisher-quality titles including textbooks, educational materials, children’s books, bestsellers, and new releases. Every book comes in multiple accessible formats that empower students to read in ways that work for them. Bookshare is funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, US Department of Education and is free for US schools and students with qualifying disabilities.

GCA Global Certified Accessible (Born Accessible)

Benetech’s Global Certified Accessible (GCA) Program is the premier independent certification program for digital accessibility in the publishing industry. GCA ensures that publisher digital content meets recognized accessibility standards by conducting comprehensive evaluations of platform-generated files. Using Benetech’s Approved Publishing Tool (BAPT) criteria, each EPUB or component is scored, and publishers receive guidance to remediate issues and establish sustainable accessible workflows.Once certified, publishers can auto-certify titles and display their commitment to accessibility and Title II compliance in their company accessibility statements.
