Support Our Veterans: Join Us in Week 2 of the Skoll Social Entrepreneurs Challenge

Wondering how you can make a real difference in the life of a veteran? Join us in week 2 of our Bookshare for Veterans crowdfunding campaign on CrowdRise!

The men and women who have selflessly served our country deserve to read for school, work or pleasure. Too often, however, their lives are irreversibly changed by physical injuries or other service-related disabilities that prevent them from reading standard print.

We’re on a mission to improve the quality of life for US veterans with print disabilities by giving them the gift of reading through Bookshare. To this end, we’re participating in the Skoll Foundation’s Social Entrepreneurs Challenge on CrowdRise: an 8-week campaign geared towards helping the world’s leading social enterprises raise money, awareness and resources for their causes. A Big Thank You to everyone who has already joined us: with your support, at the time of writing this blog we’ve raised $2,410. But this is just the beginning and we definitely need your help to continue the journey and reach our goal.

In addition to one of the grand Challenge prizes worth up to $50,000, we’re also trying to win the weekly Bonus Challenge cash prizes. Bonus Challenge #2 started on October 8th and here’s what you need to know:

If just 5 of you get 5 donations to your Challenge team member page through October 15th at 12pm ET, we’ll be entered to win an extra $5000 for our cause.

If you aren’t already a Challenge team member, just go to our campaign page, click “Fundraise for this Campaign” and follow the steps to get started. It’ll take you less than a minute to have your own personal fundraising page for our cause. If you do have a fundraiser, thank you, and please share it with friends, family and colleagues to get those 5 donations.

If you don’t feel like fundraising, you can give directly to our campaign. Donations of any amount help us move up in the rankings and get us more public exposure on the Challenge website. We appreciate anything you can do.
