Please Support Our Bookshare for Veterans Campaign on CrowdRise Today!
By Benetech, posted on October 1, 2013Please help us give the gift of reading to veterans with print disabilities by supporting our Bookshare for Veterans crowdfunding campaign on CrowdRise.
Too often, the lives of those who have served our country—our veterans—are irreversibly changed by physical injury or other service-related disability. For veterans with vision impairments, brain injuries or reading disabilities, reading standard print can be difficult, if not impossible.
Our goal is to extend Bookshare services to our veterans and provide them with access to the books they need for education, employment and inclusion in society. To support this, we just launched a crowdfunding campaign as part of the Skoll Foundation’s Social Entrepreneurs Challenge on CrowdRise. The Challenge is an 8-week campaign geared towards helping the world’s leading social enterprises raise money, awareness and resources for their causes. Join us! Support our Challenge—Benetech’s Bookshare for Veterans. Because everyone deserves the right to read.
The Challenge runs through November 22nd, and along the way there will be opportunities to win bonus challenges in support of our cause. The first opportunity starts today:
If we get at least 10 donations between October 1st at 2pm ET and October 8th at 12pm ET, we’ll be entered to win an extra $5,000 for our cause.
To help us get entered to win, please go to our campaign page and give what you can. And please tell your friends: you can all become campaign fundraisers yourselves! As soon as we have at least 10 donations, we’ll be entered to win the $5,000.
The Skoll Foundation is committing up to $1 million to the participating organizations, and we’re one of them. This support can make tremendous positive impact on the lives of our veterans, but we need your help to achieve our goal. Please join us today and get involved with the largest CrowdRise campaign ever! Together, we can improve the lives of our veterans by giving them the gift of reading.
Support our veterans today and check back on our blog for weekly updates throughout the Challenge. Thanks so much for your help!
