Benetech is pleased to announce the arrival of Jennifer Kane as Benetech’s Director of Engaged Giving. In this new role at Benetech, Jennifer will be engaging individual donors, families, and their philanthropic advisors to discover the many ways they can improve the lives of others and achieve meaningful social impact by supporting Benetech’s work in Global Literacy, Human Rights, and through our innovation arm, Benetech Labs.

Jennifer comes to Benetech from a career in finance and marketing roles in Silicon Valley followed by a shift to social good and philanthropy. After receiving an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, she spent her early career at Hewlett-Packard followed by leadership communications positions at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and Acterra, a Bay Area-based environmental organization. Her most recent role was as Director of Engagement at Silicon Valley Community Foundation, where she spent eight years working with individual philanthropists and donors.

“One of the things that has impressed me over the years of living in the Bay Area,” said Jennifer, “is that people throughout our community are propelled by the idea of making an outsize impact in the world through creative innovation. I am excited about the opportunities Benetech offers visionary Silicon Valley philanthropists and technologists who share a core belief that we are at an unprecedented moment in human history. The technologies developed in Silicon Valley can and should be used to improve and empower the lives of vulnerable people and solve vital issues facing the world. What better way can we use our creative energy and resources? And what better legacy can we leave our kids?”

“Benetech’s team of experienced and passionate technologists and business leaders is brimming with exciting projects, cross-sector collaborations, and new social good technology applications. We welcome Jennifer’s energy and proven talents in helping connect generous Silicon Valley donors to entrepreneurial projects that benefit wider communities in need,” said Benetech CEO Jim Fruchterman.

Benetech is working diligently to make social innovation a reality, and we are grateful to the many supporters and allies who help us in our mission. Together we will keep building bridges between Silicon Valley and the rest of the world to deliver on the promise of technology in service to humanity.

The Benetech team welcomes Jennifer to the Benetech family.
